About This Weather Station
The weather station is a LaCrosse WS-3600. Weather Display Software collects the data from the weather station and uploads to the internet. The data is collected every minute and the live weather page updates every minute. Other pages are updated every 15 minutes. The station comprises of an anemometer (New 1-wire anemometer to be installed soon), Rainwise rain gauge with 20cm (8") diameter collector for statistical accuracy. Thermo-hydro sensor and CCD camera for live weather images and previous day time lapse video. Lightning sensor coming soon. This weather station is located at the northern end of Helensburgh. I have set it up as I have an interest in meteorology and the data from the 2 nearest official weather stations can be quite different, one is at sea level and on the coast (Bellambi) and the other is further inland and a lower altitude than Helensburgh (Lucas Heights). All data is quite accurate except for wind from the SE/S/SW which will show a lower reading than the top end of town as we are lower down and somewhat protected from the southerly winds.
About Helensburgh
Helensburgh is a township with a population of approx 5000 people which is bordered to the north by The Royal National Park, the second oldest National Park in the world (Yellowstone in the USA is the oldest). Right on its doorstep are some lovely walking trails leading through rainforest and past waterfalls. Also some of the best surf beaches are only minutes drive away. All of this less than an hour by train or car to Sydney.
